Smuggling

Like that movie
where the “bad guys”
cast cocaine
into the shape
of statues and
beautiful figurines
so it could be hidden
right out
in the open,
so the Beloved has smuggled
Herself into this
world.

She is all around us,
in plain sight,
frozen into
the shapes
of all those
hot-eyed,
over-blown,
sweaty,
market-gaming,
child-loving,
war-fighting,
family-valued,
finger-pointing,
smarter-than,
smiling-laughing,
loving,
drop-kicking,
device-wielding,
stressed-out
costumed beings
who can’t quite
figure out
how the hell
to consummate
the act of smuggling
once they’ve arrived
on the far side of the Border.

This isn’t rocket science, people.
Let me remind you that
there’s no instructions
for obvious reasons,
such as the downside
of leaving a paper trail
for the local law enforcement.

(Here’s a clue:
Pick up the person
next to you, and dunk them
in the ocean of your heart.
Dissolve them
in the waters of your devotion.
Go out into the woods
and set up a little tent-factory
whereΒ you can work
for the Duration
without interruption,
inviting all beings
to go for a swim
in your heart pool.
But watch out!!!
The Beloved
wouldn’t have gone
to such extremes
as smuggling
if She didn’t
know She had
access to
some really
good product.)

  1. Wonderful post Michael. A great mix of humor, wisdom and head knocking. I love the list of smuggled goods with finger-pointing, value-waiving, etc and totally awesome phrase to “pick them up and dunk them in the ocean of your heart”. You teach with humor, Thanks!

    • Thank you, Brad. Little by little we dissolve our misinterpretations and misperceptions. May as well have a little fun along the way… πŸ™‚

  2. She and her beauty have always been in our presence. Often right in front of our noses. If we simply paused and sniffed, we’d be aware of her omni-nearness. This is lovely, Michael.

    • Thanks, Eric. Yes, She is the master of the undercover agents, a shapeshifter extraordinaire, an expert at camouflage- and yet for all that, She is always familiar when we find Her, always reminding us of simple abundances, always profoundly uplifting, without the hangover or addiction…

  3. The ineffable as high-end dealer πŸ™‚ – i love how my street cred goes up for doing business on these street corners with the good stuff. I love the fun you have with such pravda, Mr. M!

    • Spasibo, M! It is a delight to watch you take the bit and run with it. I never stopped to think we were working our way up the distribution chain as we sought to become transparent, street corner vessels. I probably need to get some decent bling, though, if I’m going to succeed in this business… πŸ™‚

  4. Oh goodness. I go to Florida and get all sunburned and have a few tropical adult beverages and fall way behind in my studies, and when I sit back at my old reliable computer to catch up, I read that of course, there are no worries and I am never behind, and in fact, I am beloved. Malaika nailed it, this is f’ing fantastic.

    • Yes, you are beloved. Were the whole time. You went under cover in the Sunshine State. Lots of smuggling down that way, BTW. Lots of oceans to choose from when dunking souls. Those other studies will always wait for our return anyway, right!? Unless we decide academics are not the way for us… πŸ™‚

  5. This is one being addiction to feed and regularly OD on! Shooting up in the early moments of awakening is the bomb as the eyes flicker open and we get another heart hit of love in the form of humanoid living. Warm and tingly circulating joy to the bones, warm and deep enough to satiate and breathe in. Brilliant, just brilliant. -x.M

As an aside, I FINALLY remember what movie was lurking in my subconscious. Have you seen TRAFFIC? I think that was the inspiration, albeit re-routed through a few filters and friendly co-conspirators…!
