Falling Leaves

I keep sensing this thing
called Love.

The leaves are whispering
something about it right now.
I imagine that when they all
make a sound together like this,
each vibrating in a crisp binding
they have built in this last season of the light–
one they never knew would lead to this–
they hear a sound so beautiful
they flood with joy and forget at last
to hold on.

This is how Love guides itself.
Holiness rises like a flood
to dissolve what only seemed to be.

The leaves drop to the earth.
They are already gone.

It was the sound of each other they heard,
ringing each in each–
the sound of never-ending,
the sound of what
was only ever
One.

    • Thank you, Linda! I like the idea that the best reminder of our true nature is what we find in one another… Resounding back and forth…

      Peace!

  2. As always I am pulled into presence, into peace, into One, by your beautiful words. This is one of the sweetest I think. The way you see the truth behind the ordinary and the expected is an extraordinary gift. Thank you.

    • It’s all there for the seeing I think. When I suspend the view of death that we so readily experience, and which is hard to shake, and I see how the wheel turns and seasons give way naturally each to each, I realize how confined a place my mind can be sometimes… 🙂

  3. all one, those happy little leaves living their lives the only way they know how, to be reborn anew come spring as the buds are already setting and getting ready for their coming out party 🙂 I watched a black racer snake this morning, I moved towards him as he wove his way up a shrubby kind of bush and then just lay himself out in the light of the sun, he was watching me sticking his little tongue out but I prefer him above where I won’t step on him and freak, laughing I watched him stretch out and later when I went out, he was gone. The simple little things in life that bring joy, even though i’m petrified of them, he gave me a gift with his just being himself, doing his thing, etc….thank you for this lovely post to add to my already beautifully lovely day 🙂

You stay tuned so effortless to this station of gratitude, which makes everything just right… 🙂 I will follow your lead in holding close the simple things that enliven and illumine and uplift. It is so nice to share those moments with friends!
